Fast Lane - Ferrari 412

Archive pic 6. Controversial for the car types... My old Ferrari 412 GT. One of I think only 23 or 24 in manual RHD spec. When new it featured on the cover of the now defunct Fast Lane and inside in an excellent piece by Peter Dron, explaining why we should all buy a manual 412 instead of a Testarossa. The car was metallic Nero (Black) with blue leather. It was in fantastic condition and I loved it. Chris Evans bought it next and put his FAB 1 plate on it. Really miss this one. A much derided model but in my opinion a beautiful, tasteful and underrated Ferrari.

Bring a trailer : 1980 Ferrari 400i EG Autokraft Convertible - Pete Townshend

Yes! Another one on BAT. In fact, this one also belongs to the same person who sold his 400i manual last week. That one got many positive and enthusiastic reactions. This one is another beauty and once owned by Pete Townshend. As always, enjoy the comments:

Ferrari 400GT - Museum Adlkofen

I spotted this lovely photo on Instagram:

Apparently it's a new addition for this museum:
But it's not listed on their website yet ...

I have a search label for "musea" included on the sidebar

Cavallino No. 2 - Ferrari 400 Automatic

One of the readers notified me about this edition being available. I was aware it's a very expensive edition and below is described why. And it's not because of the Ferrari 400 Automatic on the cover ... A copy of the article is in the download folder nevertheless, for free.

Why so rare?
No. 2’s sell for $800 to $1,000 on the open market. Why?
When we started Cavallino magazine in 1978, we didn’t want to send out a promotional piece seeking subs, so we decided to send the first copy free to everyone on our Ferrari mailing list. (We had published some Ferrari books before this.) In this way, people could actually see the new magazine.
We sent out 5,000 copies of No. 1, and we received 3,000 subscriptions in return! Happy us! As a result, we printed only 3,000 copies of No. 2. This explains why there are copies available of No. 1 (2,000 extra out there initially) but almost none of No. 2. People have kept their Cavallino collections together, so none ever break loose.

Quiz card and new photo's

On Ebay I spotted this photo which apparently is from some kind of card game.

"From a German set called Kennst Du die schnellsten Autos? (Do you know the fastest cars?). Roughly the size of a credit card. The back has specifications."

Reason for publishing is because I recognize the photo setting. It's taken from an official series. As such I wanted to look it up on the official Ferrari website, but they are no longer there. Luckily I had them collected in my archive:

This playcard is also from the same series:

I'm still surprised that every now and then I still find new (unknown) ones. Apparently many photos have been taken for various purposes, ie press photo's, brochures and books. As I did visit the official website again I discovered they have been adding a few new unknown ones (for me):

Ferrari Factory Maranello 1978 - Ferrari 400

This one got posted today on Facebook. Such a great photo. I'm still surprised these are popping up every now and then. Then again, 2020 is the year of the 400, bring it on!

Ferrari 400 Q&A - What do you want to know about these quirky Pininfarina boxes?

The owner of the 400 which is up for sale right now at BAT, see yesterdays blog, did put up a nice Q&A on Instagram. He was so kind to share the outcome with me:

Bring a trailer : 1982 Ferrari 400i 5-Speed

Currently on BAT, a very nice one. Enjoy the comments! So much love for this car. How different this was only a few years ago. I repeat, 2020 is the turning point for the 400 series.

300 CAR BARN FIND: PRIVATE TOUR Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Corvette, Mustang, Porsche

If you are a little into cars you might have already seen this massive barn find in the USA. This video starts at the point where a 400 is shown. One of the fewer cars that has got a plastic cover, not sure if that's an indication though

World Champions 1982 - Blu Sera

Not sure about the location where this photo was taken?

Well, and the answer by one of the very knowledgeable followers:

Maranello Concessionaires Ferrari stand, Birmingham NEC Motor Show, 22-31 October 1982.

the cars are Blu Chiaro, not Blu Sera. And the 400i may be Blu Ribot.

Auto Salon Singen - What a line up !

I did happen to have visited this company last year and they have indeed quite an exotic car stock.

This is indeed an amazing line up of Ferrari 400's. Not sure when this photo was taken though:
