Auction - Bonhams : Ferrari 412 “ Two Owners - 9000 Miles - Manual - Stunning ”

 Just for the records:

https://carsonline.bonhams.com/en/listings/ferrari/412i/abc221c9-86f8-42cc-86c6-6705835c6d99?status=preview

Genuine time-warp cars are rarer than you think – or than some advertisers would have you believe.

This, however, is one such example. With under 9,000 miles on the clock and a full history, we can see it attracting an awful lot of attention, not least because we think the 412 has started its inexorable rise into the stratosphere to join the rest of the collector Ferrari models.

We estimate somewhere between £80,000 and £100,000, fully justified when you set against the condition and provenance of the car it’s buying.

Auction - Ferrari 400i - Didier Pironi

Another auction. Adding it for the records and the first ownership:

This Ferrari 400i was sold in April 1980 via the Paris Ferrari dealer Ch. Pozzi in Paris to the then Formula 1 driver Didier Pironi. Pironi was still driving for Tyrell in 1980. One year before he signed with Ferrari.

  • A beautiful recreation of one of the most famous racing cars of all time
  • Based on a modified 1982 Ferrari 400i chassis
  • Powered by a Dino V-6 engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission
  • Handmade aluminum bodywork with signature pontoon fenders in the style of Scaglietti
Please note that this lot is titled as a 1958 Ferrari.

The Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa was the more powerful successor to the 500 TRC, introduced at the end of the 1957 racing season in response to new FIA regulations that would allow engines with up to 3.0 liters of displacement in the World Sports Car Championship. It shared many components with the 500 TRC but gained the much more powerful “Colombo” Tipo 128 V-12 engine tuned with six twin-choke carburetors—a winning combination that led Ferrari to a Manufacturers’ World Championship title in 1958.

With fewer than 35 believed to have been built from 1957 through 1961, some collectors wishing to experience the history and performance of the venerated 250 TR have commissioned recreations such as the example offered here. Crafted at the request of a previous owner, this tribute is based on a 1982 Ferrari 400i chassis that has been modified and fitted with handmade aluminum bodywork, replete with pontoon-style fenders and a rear fairing behind the driver’s seat. The V-6 engine is said to have been sourced from a Dino and is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The tan leather interior features a wood-rimmed steering wheel and lap belts. Chrome wire wheels with knock-off spinners complete the period look.

Joining the Gene Ponder Collection in 2016, this highly appealing 250 Testa Rossa recreation captures the aspect and aura of one of the most famous, and most beautiful, racing cars of all time.

Bonhams - Goodwood revival - Peter Morgan Ferrari 365GT4 2+2

 https://www.bonhams.com/auction/27523/lot/345/1973-ferrari-365-gt4-22-berlinetta-chassis-no-17327/

1973 Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2 Berlinetta
Registration no. BWP 671M
Chassis no. 17327

• One of only 524 made
• Rare right-hand drive example
• Benefiting from considerable recent expenditure
• Ferrari Classiche certified

Footnotes

Introduced towards the end of 1972, the 365 GT4 2+2 was the biggest and best equipped four-seater Ferrari so far. Flagship of the Maranello range, it reaffirmed Ferrari's determination to compete with the world's finest luxury saloons. Based on the preceding 365 GT 2+2, albeit lower, longer and wider, the newcomer was fitted with a four-cam version of the 4.4-litre V12 engine while retaining its predecessor's mechanical underpinnings. A total of only 524 had been completed by the time production ceased in 1976.

A rare right-hand drive manual transmission model supplied new in the UK via Maranello Concessionaires, this fine example of the ultimate Ferrari of its day was purchased by the immediately preceding owner from a UK auction in 2014. The comprehensive history file reveals that the Ferrari's first owner was Andrew Grima, the society jeweller, he then sold it to Peter Morgan of the Morgan Motor Company who registered it with his private registration number 'AB 16'. The car comes complete with Mr Morgan's engraved umbrella together with the original handbooks, warranty card, tool roll, and bill of sale.

Auction - Sotheby's : 1975 Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2 by Pininfarina

Why not, another auction. Since prices are rising this might be another interesting case. But I'm also adding this one due it's unusual color. For now the advert does not show any details as that's being worked upon:

Auction - RM Sotheby's Monterey 2021 results - Ferrari 400i

This auction had two 400i's for sale and they fetched a very good price (usually in the USA and UK prices are on the lower side compared to Europe mainland). I guess this will uplift the Hagerty price guide.

Import documentation on file shows this Argento over Tan 400i was ordered new by Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo of Portland, Oregon. It was imported to the United States from Italy via a Belgian transporter in September 1984. By January 1985, the car was federalized, approved for road use, and thusly released to Ron Tonkin’s personal collection.

Auction : Ferrari 400 + Ferrari 412

Another upcoming auction with a 412 and 400 being offered:

https://www.aguttes.com/en/catalog/111255

Looking forward for the end results, both are great lookers. The prices however still appear modest to me given the amount of effort that has gone into the maintenance and restoration. Such class and style up for grabs for less than 6 digits.

Supplied by the then German importer Auto Becker to the first owner Bekleidungswerke Erwin Hucke OHG on 10 April 1978. It was used so regularly it was serviced seven (7) times by Auto Becker in 1978 and had covered nearly 40,000 km by October 1979.

Auction : Aguttes results Ferari 400i Manual vs Ferrari 400i Automatic

Thought this was an interesting result to share. Both are comparable 400i's  in a very decent shape and according to the description they have been well maintained. The manual fetches a higher price than the automatic. The auction price results are without the 15% auction fee (as far as I can tell). I consider this a fair and good market price indication in Europe mainland. Let's see what the coming year will bring.

Silverstone auction : 1978 Ferrari 400 RHD Manual

Another advert with a great photo shoot. Only adding it for the records to capture the first owner. Apparently it was already sold earlier this year via a Silverstone auction.

The 400 GT offered here, chassis number 26265 was built in November 1978 and ordered by Brighton Car Concessionaires to be finished in Silver Grey with black striped red leather. It was specified with air conditioning, electric windows, twin mirrors, and a radio. They sold the car in June 1979 to its first proud owner, a Mr Claridge who was a prominent Ferrari and Frazer Nash collector and who already owned a 275 GTB, 250 GTE, 275 GTB4 and Dino 246 GT. On delivery of the 400,  he instructed Lancaster Ferrari to rustproof the car and the original Ziebart guarantee and bungs are still present.Invoices in the file show that Maranello Concessionaires serviced the car until Mr Claridge’s death in 1995 and a V5 Certificate, dated February 1996, indicates that the Ferrari was then transferred to the estate who instructed a broker to arrange its sale.

Curious to know who won this auction as I got outbid - looks like a very interesting collection. Hopefully some information can be exchanged by the new owner.
