The Four-Door Dream.
This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Ferrari Pinin, the world’s only four-door Ferrari saloon and a symbol of bold design vision.
Unveiled at the 1980 Turin Motor Show to celebrate Pininfarina’s 50th anniversary, the Pinin was the brainchild of Sergio Pininfarina, who dreamed of a Ferrari to rival the luxury saloons of other brands. Built on a Ferrari 412 chassis, the sleek concept featured revolutionary design details: flush-mounted glass, hidden wipers for better aerodynamics, cooling-focused wheel blades, and futuristic “computerized” interior controls.
Though it never reached production, the Pinin left a lasting impression on Enzo Ferrari and the world. A vision that still fascinates automotive enthusiasts today, 45 years later.

Classic Cars That Are Quietly Skyrocketing in Value

1976 to 1989 Ferrari 400 and 412

Original retail price: Around USD $37,000
Current value: USD $59,900
5-year trend: Up 50% since 2019

The Ferrari 400 is possibly the most affordable way to get into a V12 Ferrari from the Enzo era. It’s still got the design language of the seventies, a genuine Colombo V12 under the hood, and enough room in the back to make it almost practical.

Its major flaw? A three-speed automatic transmission built by GM. Still, the value has risen steadily over the past few years, and there’s a growing niche of buyers who see the 400 and 412 as underappreciated classics. If you want an old-school Ferrari without paying vintage Ferrari money, this is your moment.

Ferrari Engine Comparison - Colombo 330GT vs 400GT by Tom Yang

I compare two Colombo V-12 engines at my shop. One is out of a 300GT 2+2 and another is out of a 400GT. The 330 is a two cam 4 liter engine and the second one is a 4.8 liter 4 cam engine. They're similar in design, but very different in shape and layout.
