Restauto Modena - Ferrari 400 bare metal - body paint

This year I missed out my yearly IHWC car trip to Italy. One of the places they visited was Giuseppe Candini in Modena. Next to this company there was another shop specialized in classic car repair/painting. On one of the photo's they shared I spotted this Ferrari 400 on the left. As you can see, it had been undergoing a thorough job and received it's first layer of coating. The wheel arche is still having bare metal. Nice to see this 400 gets such good quality treatment.

400i front end repairs in Maranello Concessionaires old/original Thorpe bodyshop. 1986/87

A lot of nice time period correct photo's via Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/pdb.365/

There is a lot of tricky lead work needed to make shape of the front end on 400/412s. Particularly getting the front indicator units to fit. Each car is hand shaped from new.
This is probably my oldest Maranello picture, from 1986/87.
New model 328 having work done behind.

Yeah, when I started there in 1984, the first job I was given as an apprentice was a small repair on a Mondial qv. It was only a couple of months old. Ferrari owners do use their cars and they do get banged up. The 400 shaped cars were probably the last new cars to have so much hand finihing/shaping. They used a lot of lead, tricky to do but very satisfying.

Australia : Stolen Ferrari 400I SALOON | 400I - VIN25011

A bit late but it only showed up on my radar today. I'm not familar with this website either so I don't know if it's a trusted source.

Stolen from CABOOLTURE, QLD on 17 March 2025

The provided photo is unlikely the car in question. VIN 25011 is indeed indicating towards a 1978 Carburettor model (and not a 400i) Besides the description does mention it's color is black.
