Ferrari 400i Ferrari Rebodied as a 1958 Testarossa

Here is another example of a Ferrari 400 which has been reused for a kit car. Just adding it for the records. Note I have a label on the side bar to keep track of these converted models. It was listed on Ebay last week:

With the following supporting text:

Relisting due to an Ebay error.

Hopefully the title got your attention so Welcome to my Rolling Art collection.

You are bidding on a completely changed for the better Ferrari 400i.  400i's are kind of ugly so I gave it a facelift.  It has been chopped, cut and rebuilt as a 1958 Testarossa.

Yes it carries a Ferrari title from the 400i donor car.  I had trouble with ebay loading these details of the donor car so here they are for your use.

The VIN on the donor car is ZFFEB06G000041217.  Year 1982. Body 2 door. Make Ferr.  Current title is Florida.

The body is hand formed Aluminum that took over 3 years to build.

Keeping with the Italian theme the motor is a Ghibli Maserati V6 DOHC and matching automatic tranny showing carbs down the middle.

This drive train was sourced because it was affordable and fit in the engine bay.  But there are always lots of options if you are willing to pay for them.

I will be happy to put a Ferrari V12 250, 275, 330, 400 or 456 motor in there for market price (I have contacts for a few of those engines but they are dear).

Some pictures of other builds in my collection are provided as reference material.  This way you will get a feel for the quality of the Art this Ferrari shares.

First Reference is my Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing built on Mercedes platform and Mercedes title.

Second Reference is my Bugatti Atlantic built on a Jaguar platform with Jag 6 DOHC.   This is hand formed metal body.

Third Reference is a real Delahaye 135 and titled as such.  The entire rolling running chassis is Delahaye.  The hand formed aluminum body is a rebody of the famous Figoni Torpedo.

Fourth Reference, is a Ferrari 196S Dino with hand formed aluminum body.

Thanx for your interest.

On Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/8727831092/) This advert was brought to my attention: http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/766508250.htm

Yes, this Formula 1 driver had a 400 and it was an automatic version as well - just like Enzo Ferrari himself. More details can be found on the European 400 Club site:

Artcurial auction - Baillon- Ferrari 400 sold at 45k Euro

http://erwin400.blogspot.nl/2015/01/baillon-collection-ferrari-400.html

Today was the famous auction of the Baillon collection. The Ferrari 400 was sold at 45.000 Euro (excluding 20% commision fee and VAT). A very good price and worth it in my opinion.

The bidding went sky high from the start for all automobiles. The barnfind and auction has been very well hyped - it was almost impossible not knowing about it. Then again, it is a very unique collection and worth the attention. Chapeau for the marketing boys.

Ferrari 400 chassis used for a replica

And another 400 sacrificed for a project car. I should have keep track of these as there a few around who used the 400 basis for a replica kit car.

German Auto Motor und Sport 3 November 1982 - Ferrari 400i gegen Aston Martin Vintage

Someone was so kind to submit me this German article. A very nice comparisson test. And what a nice color for the 400. I welcome any contribution for this blog - your input will be treated confidential.
