The gadget of Ferrarissima 6
Due to some research I was doing I hit this edition of Ferrarissima. I do happen to have edition 3 and 5.
Nr 3 does have a great article about the 412 which includes the line up from the start. And Nr. 5 has a great article about the Lancia Thema 8.32, another personal favorite.
Another personal favorite listed in this book is the Fiat Dino, Yes another linkage with Ferrari, but that was not the trigger. When flicking through the index I noticed it was covering the Ferrari V12 engine history and of course the 365/400/412 was quite well covered. In fact quite a bit of supporting photo's and details are included of the 412 engine. Even with the mention of the mechanics who worked on these engines. This is only something I found out once I had the book.
But the hidden gem was the included cross-sectional drawing of the 412's engine. It's folded up in the back sleeve pocket. How cool is that?
It measures about 115 x 48 cm
So as soon as I found out I tried to get ahold of this book. The first edition was published in a batch of 5000 pieces. These are sold out and if you are able to find one they are priced a bit higher then the other available copies of these series. They also created a new special limited reprint of 1000 pieces. If you buy a used one check beforehand if this does include the 412 engine drawing. The new edition have them included as well. So that's the one I bought. In my case I bought it at www.autolit.eu One of the best automotive literature sellers in Europe if not worldwide. I believe I bought the last one in his stock but you can doublecheck with him or else find a different source.
Next thing to do is to have it framed and put it up the wall.

My Ferrari 400 maintenance + MOT
Yes, it was time for the bi-yearly MOT on my 400. A few weeks earlier I had my 400 appraised for the insureance. The value was more or less the same as 3 years ago. All good.
The MOT did not reveal anything unusual. I hardly have been using it either. Thats the downside of having multiple cars and not enough time. And of course when bringing it to the garage I noticed the right indicator failed as it was making a very rapid clicking noise (previously it was the left side). And there was still an outstanding airco switch item that had to be installed since last time.
Also this time around the bougies (spark plugs) had been renewed. And the distributor caps have been cleaned as well. And apparently there were another two light failures (front and back) which required one new mass connector and more connector cleaning.
Still in total it was a 3,5 hour labour job, not to bad though. Credits to Classic Paradise

I only made this photo when I brought it at the garage.

Ferrari 365GT4 2+2 Croisette - multiple Instagram stories
Multiple Instagram stories about this car. An exciting weekend for the Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2 Felber „Croisette“, winning the Magneto Magazine’s Art of Bespoke.
And a interesting video reportage by Winston Goodfellow but he is wrong about the manufacturer. This one is not done by Fly Studio, although they made a one-off as well, but that was one with a targa roof. This one was done by Felber. Oh well.
By the looks of it these Insta videos do not play automatically, but if you click on the picture it does. Note the 2nd Insta post below are photo's only for which you need to use the right arrow button.

Ferrari 412 Final Fixes: Suspension & Engine Repairs Completed | Tyrrell's Classic Workshop
And here is Part II
Welcome back to Tyrrell's Classic Workshop for Part 2 of our Ferrari 412 restoration! In this concluding episode, Iain Tyrrell and technician Korrey dive into the intricate work that went into solving the suspension issues that plagued this classic grand tourer. With original parts no longer available, Korrey faced the challenging task of engineering bespoke modifications to replace the Boge components, ensuring that the Ferrari's iconic ride quality is fully restored. But that's not all. The Ferrari 412 was also suffering from severe fuel distribution problems, limiting the V12 engine to just 30% of its potential power. Iain takes us through the diagnostic process and shares how these issues were resolved, allowing the engine to deliver the thrilling performance it was designed for. Finally, join Iain as he takes this beautifully restored Ferrari 412 out for a road test to ensure everything is tickety-boo. Will the suspension and engine repairs hold up under real-world driving conditions? Watch as Iain puts this Italian masterpiece through its paces.

Autogespot - Ferrari 400i Automatic - Principauté de Monaco
Unfortunately autogespot.com still removes Ferrari 400 postings from their list - but 365GT4 2+2 are allowed though. I was able to capture this one from Google cache. A very cool one in Monaco. Adding it here just for the records. Click the photo to enlarge:

Magazine - Dutch - Autoweek nr 1 2024 - Designtaal - Elegant gelijnde hoop in bange dagen - Ivo Groen
Someone pointed out to me the following article in the Dutch magazine Autoweek classics. It's a small article from a Dutch designer who moved to the USA at the age of 13, his name is Ivo Groen. It's a relatively small article but nevertheless interesting. He remarks that Gianni Agnelli gave Ferrari and Pininfarina the order to create a car so he could take the missus to the Opera in a stylish manner and without provoking the audience. According to Sig. Fioravanti he got the order from Enzo himself:
"When the new model (365GT4 2+2) was discussed with the Commendatore he cited various clients like Pietro Barilla or Herbert von Karajan, a sublime orchestral director who felt that the sound of a Ferrari V12 was a "kind of symphony" as the revs rose! As such it was concluded that the new model should be a Ferrari that you could drive to La Scala in Milan."
So I'm unsure if Agnelli had given any direct design orders regarding the development of the Ferrari 365GT4 2+2. But this is how these stories develope and start leading their own life. The article has some other nice linkage to the same styling elements used on a few more interesting cars.
Since it's holiday season and if you like the styling part you might want to consider to read this old triology I wrote in the past:
1) https://erwin400.blogspot.com/2014/12/ferrari-400-design-pininfarina-leonardo.html
2) https://erwin400.blogspot.com/2015/08/design-story-part-ii-pininfarina-paolo.html
3) https://erwin400.blogspot.com/2016/05/design-story-part-iii-fioravanti.html
I thought I had included some more car examples, but I didn't. Instead I made a reference to this page: https://fiat130.nl/130-coupe-look-a-likes/ I'm surprised myself I did not include the Lancia Gamma Coupe and the Lancia Marica in my design triology. Oh well.
