Ferrari / Pininfarina Foglio allestimenti - factory sheet

Last week I was in contact with someone who was promoting a Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2 being for sale. When making some  inquiries regarding it's origin and details I got send this photo (click to enlarge).

It's a copy of the factory sheet which holds details regarding the assembly nr, chassis nr, etc. By the looks of it the assembly nr might be leading rather then the chassis, which is updated by hand. I have not seen such file before so I welcome any input from the incrowd regarding this sheet.

Elsevier Magazine - Dutch 400 spot in the background

When cleaning up my bookmarks I was reminded about this online article from about two years ago regarding city polution by old cars in Rotterdam.

http://milieuzonerotterdam.nl/download/SPR-WSR-2516012817360.jpg

The city is now banning old cars and diesels which seems to be a growing trend in Western Europe. The reason for keeping this article was simply because of the supporting photo:

Yes, there is a 400 in the background (click the photo to enlarge). Again, it such a typical 400 spot. So I reached out to one of the guys mentioned in the article (the DS owner), he appeared to be an architect. Am awaiting his repsonse. By now he responded and he informed me he knew the owner. I'm now hoping the owner will contact me to share a little more history on his car. We are now exactly one week further and I get notified by the DS owner who mentioned the name of the 400 owner and that the 400 owner did send me an email. I did got indeed an email for support on a Dutch 400 but I did not realize it was him nor did he mention that either. Although I responded back I never got a reply, so I just reminded him again and highlighted the fact I now became aware he's the actual owner of the 400 in the picture. Oh well … just another blog for the records.

Ferrari 412 first ownership

This car got posted in the known FB group:

https://www.classic-trader.com/uk/cars/listing/ferrari/412/412/1989/132054 (sorry, meanwhile the car is no longer listed - maybe sold already - and I suspect this one has moved into a private collection):

Another very low mileage car:

Unrivaled Ferrari 412 manual transmission with 16,200 km demonstrable.
Factory / Type F101 CL GR
Engine F101 E 010
Gear 5-speed manual transmission
Plate MO ... 412
Car built in only 303 specimens of which very few units with manual transmission.
First holder Ferrari dealership of Modena, second and only private owner for over 25 years.
Perfectly original car with demonstrable mileage, Blaupunkt car radio of the time.
Absolutely "matching numbers", engine-transmission-chassis perfectly and integrally original, as delivered by Maranello.Ready to drive, in beautiful metallic black with bright interiors in total gray leather. No work to be done, complete documentation, on-board dossier with Ferrari documents, keys and original double keys. (Price € 92.500,-)
And the license plate was partly shielded off. Turns out of one the members knew the car well and back at the time had driven it (and included his photo). Apparently this was Massimo Ponzellini's ex car, it was at least being used when he was President of BEI in Luxembourg.

In the same FB group a new photo was posted of the Jankel 4 door Ferrari 400. So when I checked again the Instagram posting I read that John Barnard (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Barnard) was also a Ferrari 400 owner - I'm unsure which type, so it might be a 412:

igloo124Good to hear that it will be restored although the 400 was never a favoured Ferrari by many people. When I was with FAUK, John Barnard had one as he was designing for Ferrari F1. Wasnt amused when our FD totalled it.....

Tales from the past : Ferrari 365GT4 2+2 - Gran Premio di Monte Carlo - Enzo Ferrari

I captured this posting on FB which was shared by someone. It's a great Italian story, with a poor English translation by Google below:

A "rapporto".
Ripasso'dopo circa quattro ore e ritornarono assieme a Modena in Largo Garibaldi dove abitavano.

May 1980. Grand Prix of Montecarlo f1I had the chance to buy a 365 gt 2 + 2 gray metallic body of very few kilometers. This car was a personal friend of the Commendator Ferrarie was kept in storage, one of the rare cases I think, inside the premises of Ferrari Modena in via Trento Trieste, where I used to go to say hello to some friend but the Commendatore.Si was the car that belonged to the Conte Grandi, who despite being married to a Rangoni Macchiavelli, almost always resided in Brazil where I think he had a great agricultural estate. The 365 was practically always stationary in Modena, the tires had never been replaced by birth, the battery viceversa more 'times.A very comfortable and also very fast car because his friend Gaetano Florini, who managed the department of sports customers in Modena, had taken care of a restorative care of horses (carburetors, camshafts, discharges, etc.). It was just a bit heavy. PininFarina did not build light cars. What better occasion than a nice trip to Montecarlo for the grand prix of f1 in May 1980? I would have had the opportunity to try not only the car but also all the vitamins introduced by Gaetano.Prudentially, since the trip would have I loaded my wife, my wife, my sister and my nephew with their suitcases, inflated to a much higher pressure than the excellent Michelin xwx thinking of being able to try the speed of the car in the long journey; then the traffic was much more than today and above all there were no tutors and speed limits to forbid the driving license. It happened that at the tollgate of Piacenza, where you went out to take the junction for Genoa, at the entrance a Porsche turbp 3.0 was mehered in. A road race that in spite of my brief stop for a super "stint", probably also done by the Porchista, made us find again at the border of Ventimiglia one after the other.I forward though. The four new Ansa exhaust pipes, were inside the color of the light-colored trerra cotta, very clean, and the countless kilometers saw the quivering hand score 270km / h.My Wife screamed stronger than the twelve cylinders and the exhausts did, but I did not get any great results. I enjoyed myself too much and did not listen, knowing that I had paid the bill in the hotel! in less than three hours we arrived in Monaco. Leaving the race less for us Ferraristi, he won the Reuteman race that did not yet run for Ferrari. In 1980 we had a modest t 5 transition waiting for the turbo, which I prefer to forget.I had the opportunity the following month to write to the Commendatore of the trip made with the 365 "make-up", of the fun gallop made together with the turbo Porsche arrived second and I did not neglect to mention the screams of Nicoletta, my wife who covered the song of the 12-cylinder house .Something must have amused him for a few days, since sending my letter, pa

Original FB post:

Obviously I checked out his FB account as this individual had a close relationship with Enzo Ferrari. Luckily it was an open account so I could view all the other posts. To my surprise I noticed this specific post was placed twice. Most people reacted on the first post. But the 2nd post had another lenghty and interesting response by himself:

Io in quel periodo avevo come auto u

Google English translation:

Yes, Bellei, he was also a character. I'm glad to tell you this anecdote. In Ferrari it was for the first time thinking of mounting an automatic transmission on a model. It was thought to 400 gt 2 + 2.At that time I had as a car an Opel Commodore coupe'injection 2.8 six-cylinder with the automatic transmission (car nice and bright to drive)There was no automatic transmission culture in Italy. One morning, Gaetano, passes by my workshop and tells me to go with him to try the automatic prototype of 400 gt.I jumped, literally running on the passenger seat and went along the Via Emilia to the first town, Castelfranco. They were trying a monumental change of the three-ratio Borg-Warner American with the torque converter (I think the block weighed over 200 kg. + The weight of the car was not more than two hundred kg. the 12 cylinder 4800 did not work miracles in acceleration.Florini who was not born with automatic transmissions, was a little awkward, the maneuvers of kich dawn, were not familiar to Gaetano.Fermandosi a fuel distributor, in telling me any evil of automatic transmissions and asked me to drive for the return in Modena.I made a better performance to that transmission and I suggested him to ask for a change with more. In the executive approval the car went out with a four-speed automatic. Today the automatisms have won an important share of the market and as already in the United States and in Japan they are the only existing transmissions.

How's that? He was partly involved with test driving the prototipo Automatica, see also this blog for reference:

https://erwin400.blogspot.com/2017/12/ferrari-400i-prototipo.html

But coming back to the first post and it's comments, I noticed also these responses:

And the supporting other post with the photo:

As for Rossano, apparently he was running a tyre company in Modena and delivering directly to Enzo Ferrari, hence the good relationship. I found this article with another nice story:

Ferrari 400 oil painting - "Mr. and Mrs" - studio photo - framed on the wall

Remember this blog:

http://erwin400.blogspot.com/2018/11/artem-oleynik-ferrari-400-oil-painting.html

Well, it arrived last week so I had to arrange a photo frame first, the passe partout that came with it did not fit. So I had one custom made. Now all is put together and nicely on the wall in the living room. Apologies for the poor quality of both photo's - it does not do justice to this nice painting. But in real it's great!

Ferrari 400 Leather range details - Connolly Vaumol - Cogolo

Next to the paint colors, as per blog:

hereby another very nice contribution by David:

Set out below is what I understand to be the “standard” range of colours, plus some others which were probably special orders.

By 1978, it was possible to order the dash and console in the same colour leather as the seats and door trim. However, most dashboards remained black until the S2 400i was launched in 1982.

Most 400s and early 400is were ordered with contrasting stripes or inserts. However, towards the end of production of the Series 1 400i in 1982, it was rare to see contrasting stripes.

In at least the UK it was possible to order a series 1 400i console with a leather covering instead of wood.

Our favourite combination is Verde Nijinsky (light green) with Arancia (dark orange) interior. That would get some attention. Probably only one 365 was sold new in this combination, and that has long since disappeared.
If someone does happen to have supporting photo's of this car that would be much appreciated.

Would be a dream to find it and restore it to its original spec. Anyone???
