250 SWB Ltd … Ferrari 365GT4 2+2’s.
Debuting at the 1972 Paris Motorshow in the wake of the 365GTC4. Ferrari were to build 524 of these amazing touring cars between 1972-76 and Maranello Concessionaires sold over 20% of the production. It was never officially imported to the USA.
Pininfarina’s radical design still retained vestiges of the past with its standard 5 speed gearbox mated to a 4.4 litre V12 engine fed by 6 side draft Weber carbs. Knock off wheels were retained too. A full leather interior, Air con and PAS were standard features. The only extra offered were Borrani wire wheels but to this day I’ve never seen one wearing them.
Like every Ferrari 2+2 it was built for purpose and not an elongated version of another model.
Sadly by the late 1970’s it was cast as the poor relation. Prices plummeted resulting in a lack of proper maintenance. Finding a good car today is nigh on impossible and should you wish to restore one it could end up owing you the value of a Daytona. To me as a lover of all Ferrari 2+2’s this is a tragedy. I’m old enough to recall driving them when they were only a few years old and generally in good health. My memories are not distorted and I rate this car as one of the greatest of that period. Yes, I would chose a 365GT4 2+2 over a Daytona every time if in comparable condition.
As an aside, a few years ago I sourced a near perfect one owner car in France for a famous car museum in Romania. I drove it from Paris to Bucharest, some 1500 miles, virtually non stop. It ran faultlessly and was a joy to drive along European autoroutes and then the twisting roads of the Carpathian Mountains.
Never dismiss this car but I would urge prospective buyers to step with caution today and only purchase the best available. The saying of buy cheap, buy twice is very relative but if you can find a good one you will be amply rewarded. #ferrari #ferrari365gt42plus2 #maranelloconcessionaires #tiraccarcollection #ferrariuk #ferrariclassiche #ferrarifrance #romania #parisautosalon #ferrarigermany #ferrariitalia #1972

Ferrari 400i collectors card

I spotted this one on Ebay. Adding it here for the records and mostly because of the photo used.

Update 12-Feb-2025 : I knew there was something about this photo. It's the enlarged vent on the bonnet. So it's one of the few examples produced for the Arabic countries.

Ferrari customer service department ("Assistenza Client") in central Modena in 1979. This is same premises at 31 Viale Trento Trieste, where Enzo Ferrari in 1929 had moved in with his Scuderia Ferrari team. We see a Ferrari 400 or two, and a 308?

Ferrari 400i Malta / Valletta

On Facebook someone posted these photo's in a group. He had made these photo's a few years ago.

I did remember this car particularly because it was involved in a car incident. I'm pretty sure I captured these photo's and if I'm not mistaken I found more footage of this incident on Google Streetview. But I'm unable to find it anymore and it's not on my blog either. Weird. I only found this additional photo posting on Facebook (posted myself ;-) )
