Auto Becker - Das Flaggschiff des Commendatore - Ferrari 400i

Another nice posting on FB, a press release by Auto Becker.

Just adding it here for the records and because I like the title so much.

Edel, aristrokratisch, klassische, Traumwagen, zeitlose Elegance. That sums it up quite well.

I believe Helmut Becker was a huge liker of this model and they have sold quite a few as well. In fact my 400 was sold new at the time via them. Check out their showroom, at least 5 are on display (click to enlarge):

This is what Helmut said about this car:

German importer Helmut Becker (Auto Becker) put it this way: "Only the eye of the connoisseur, the connoisseur, recognizes him. Its unobtrusive elegance expresses understatement. Driving a Ferrari without anyone noticing. He has something of a very serious business partner."

CAR SPOTTING WITH DAVID IRVINE: MARANELLO CONCESSIONAIRES 1983

In 2015 I had posted the following blog:

https://erwin400.blogspot.com/2015/12/maranello-concessionaires-ltd-in-uk.html

If my memory serves me well I was provided these by David himself. I was impressed how many 400's were located at that place. Two years later I bumped in this brochure:

https://erwin400.blogspot.com/2017/09/brochure-maranello-concessionaires-ltd.html

And today I found this website/blog:

https://supercarnostalgia.com/blog/car-spotting-with-david-irvine-maranello-concessionaires-1983

Many of these I had already posted in the first blog but I see a very few are missing though. So adding them here separately. Looks like the original photo's have been digitally retouched, looking pretty sharp now.

Palm Beach - Cavallino 2020 Concorso d'Eleganza - WINNER 2+2 : 1988 Ferrari 412 GT Serial 71077

What a stunner of a beauty! Good to see this series is presented as well, just as I wished for last year when I visited this place, see blog:

https://erwin400.blogspot.com/2019/08/west-palm-beach-ferrari-400i-automatic.html

Prior to releasing this blog post (which I had already created as a draft) I just checked Ferrari Chat today and read the following about this car from the owner:

"I entered my 1988 412 , Blue Chiara , at the Cavallino Concours , held at the Breakers, in Palm Beach, on January 25, 2020, having never been to Cavallino, the car won a first in class , 2+2s up to 2010, I was very surprised and thrilled , winning against some great competition. What was even more surprising was the number of people who stopped and admired the car, asked a lot of questions, and made attempts to buy the car.
People who know what a 412 is where very surprised to see that my car was the only 412 entered. Some felt that this design is growing on the Ferrari fans in recent years, as it has with me."

How cool is that, I was actually wondering if it did receive any prize. And yes, it did!
Didn't I say earlier that 2020 was going to be the turning year for the 400 series?

Congratulations to the owner and thanks for representing this car so well. Enjoy the photo's (thanks for sharing Brice).

Zandvoort July 1979 - Ferrari 400 - Formula 1 / F1

Another great contribution on Facebook by Cyrille.

Although I'm not into F1 racing this is a great time period photo. And this year the F1 is back at Zandvoort again, so what a nice timing for bringing up this picture. I wonder who's car this is? Maybe one of the F1 drivers?

Dutch Ferrari 400i rear bumper damage

Just for the records. Spotted on Instagram

https://www.instagram.com/p/B7a9SKVgirf

It's a very early 400i from 15-10-1979 and imported to the Netherlands at 8-9-2010. Last person registered it on his name was at 27-3-2019.

Update 17 November 2020: Another photo I found on Instagram.

400 Lurker

I see this quite often, nice photo's whereby a 400 is lurking politely in the background, never claiming any attention.

Pininfarina Brochure / Catalogi / Press release 1972 Paris motor show

This item was listed on Catawiki and ended yesterday:

https://www.catawiki.nl/l/33592165-brochures-catalogi-rare-1972-paris-motor-show-pininfarina-press-release-document-and-photographs-pininfarina-1970-1980

And it did include some material about the 365GT4 2+2 which I had not seen before; some drawings with specific details about this car, see photo's below. And additional some of the press photo's.

Someone set an automatic bidder with a high price as the last offer got outbid immediately thereafter. Also previous bids were also automatically overbid. So it got sold for € 225,- + 9% auction costs and € 14,- shipping costs.
